We are a small practice and we recruit rarely. When we do, we are looking for one thing above all: the habit of checking a source before repeating what it says.
What the work is actually like
Most of it is reading. Statutes, decisions, regulations, the other side’s evidence. The arguments that win Indonesian trademark cases are built from documents, and the person who finds the paragraph nobody else read is the person who wins the case.
You will work directly with a partner rather than through layers. That means more responsibility earlier, and also that there is nowhere for weak work to hide.
What we look for
- Accuracy with citations. We do not publish or plead anything we have not read in the original.
- Written Indonesian of a professional standard, and English good enough to correspond with foreign counsel.
- Genuine interest in intellectual property, commercial disputes, or constitutional law.
- Willingness to say “I have not verified that yet” instead of guessing.
Open positions
None advertised at present
We are not currently recruiting. Speculative applications are welcome and are kept on file; we contact candidates when a position opens rather than running a general intake.
To apply speculatively, send a short covering note and a curriculum vitae to ask@lexaeternalawfirm.com with “Speculative application” in the subject line. Please do not attach work samples containing client information.
Internships and PKPA
We take a small number of law students and PKPA participants each year, in connection with the IP procedural law materials prepared by the firm. Enquiries from universities and PKPA organisers are welcome.
